Get to know Rob.

In 2015 Rob ran for and was elected to Reynoldsburg City School Board. He was also elected by the Board to be the Vice-President (twice!).

Rob was an instrumental part of the negotiations team during the REA contract negotiations. This team was able to collaborate and collectively achieve an agreement in 4 (FOUR!) days! This contract puts the needs of our students first - ensuring that we have the staffing, programs, and supplies needed to educate our kids.

Rob has been on the Buildings & Grounds Committee, the Safety & Security Committee, the Policy Committee, the Calendar Committee, and the Personnel Committee.

In early 2017, Rob and Joe Begeny (along with representatives from the other 16 school districts in Franklin County) formed the "Franklin County School Board Alliance" to help advocate for public education and our kids.

Rob grew up right here in central Ohio. He attended Bexley City Schools where he was active in several
sports such as diving, skiing, and track. Rob also played several instruments in the marching band and
orchestra. Rob was active in the Boy Scouts where he attained the rank of Eagle and was elected into the Order of the Arrow (the national honor society of the Boy Scouts of America). Rob was also selected to join Nagatamen (“One Who Can Be Trusted”), the National Youth Leadership Training course designed for scouts to learn and develop leadership skills.

After high school, Rob attended The Ohio State University, Columbus State Community College and Kent State University where he was accepted into the School of Architecture. Rob earned his B.A. in
Geography with an emphasis on City Planning. Rob performed his internship at Portage County Regional
Planning Commission where he was considered for a full time position.

Rob worked at Dominion Homes here in Columbus as the CAD Administrator where he did custom design work on over 600 homes and managed the companies AutoCAD environment. He also arranged for an up and coming Architecture student from Kent to intern there.

Rob went to work for custom home builder Nelson Homes as their in-house Architect and IT Operations Manager. Rob was recognized in 2004 as Employee of the Quarter for implementing a 5-office Customer Service Program which allowed all the employees to track sales, monitor construction and maintain billing. Rob was instrumental in streamlining the process of building a house from 20 months to 11 months.

In 2005 Rob went to work at NetJets, Inc. as a Computer System Administrator.  Rob has been promoted to Senior LAN Administrator - Infrastructure Applications where he is in charge of the company’s world-wide antivirus system. Rob was honored in 2008 with a commemorative football signed by then CEO Richard Santulli and OSU Football Coach Jim Tressel after having been nominated by managers and coworkers for his teamwork.  Rob is also one of the few multiple “Stars” award winners of the company having been nominated by co-workers after his superior support of their internal customer service program.

Rob and his wife, Penny, have three wonderful children who since 2007 have grown up and graduated from the Reynoldsburg school system.  Natalie (2017 graduate) who was in the eSTEM Bio-Science program at Eastland-Fairfield Career center (Gahanna) and identical twins Kelsey and Taylor (2016 graduates) who were in the HS2/Mosaic Program and BELL/Eastland Career Center Culinary Academy respectfully. Rob spent 2012-2016 working heavily with the Band Boosters as a Trustee where he participated in creating the budget, maintaining equipment, and several other logistics functions.

Rob and Penny believe in the school system so much that they created the Triple-T Scholarship which rewards a selected candidate from the music program a financial award that pays their fees for the full year. This will be the 5th year for the award!! They hope to be able to expand this award to other facets of the District in years to come.

Rob values integrity and accountability for our district. He strives for a high quality education for our children and looks to the needs of our community in the future. Rob understands that the stakes are higher than ever and he is eager to bring a new perspective to the board of education.
